No Boiling Frog

One day, a person of no relation and declining significance dared to tell me that if I ever thought to publish a cookbook of my family recipes, I would need her permission.  Continuing on my then-fairly-new zen path of inner peace and gratitude, I chose the drama-free route.  Little did I know that by bottling it up, I did my culture, my family (especially my mama) and my hot-pepper-sauce-self a disservice.  But, I guess now she gah know, “What’s mines is mines.”

On that note, here’s an official heads up that I will be sharing more of my (family’s) recipes, so keep an eye out for upcoming posts! 🙂

In the meantime, take a look-see at Recipes From My Mother for the following recipes:

Note:  It’s 2:50 am July, 26, 2019.  A few minutes ago, M came up from the basement with a package.  I had not seen him for a couple of days, since he was working and the kids and I were away visiting with my family (siblings/cousins/aunties/uncles) from Trinidad, reconnecting and celebrating (a cousin’s) life on International Cousins Day.  The gatherings of distanced relatives and the sharing of lives and lost stories that came from them, grounded me in ethnic soil.  And one cousin in particular inspired me to write and finally publish again.  (Thank you, DMV❣️)  So, you can imagine my surprise when I opened the package and there inside was a booklet of vintage postcards of Trinidad sent to me from a childhood friend.  Star-crossed and synchronistic 🙂
